When high street homewares and fashion store Oliver Bonas refreshed their brand in 2016 the first store to take on the new look was their flagship London store in Tottenham Court Road. Essential in communicating the new brand was store design, and Concreate floors were specified to deliver a fresh and modern backdrop for the shop, which would allow their eclectic mix of merchandise to be the eye-catching feature.
Concreate is ideal in a retail environment. The tongue and grooved concrete panels are finished with specially formulated high solid oil giving the appearance of raw concrete, whilst providing a treated stain resistant surface that is hardwearing and easy to maintain, withstanding the high footfall of a busy retail setting.
Having proved such a success, as the new Oliver Bonas store designs have been rolled out, Concreate floor panels have remained a key specification in the design.
Two stores recently completed, in prime retail location, are in Cardiff and Chiswick.
The same Concreate Natural Grey panels have been installed throughout the retail space. The installation team remain impressed at how straightforward, quick and cleaner using Concreate is compared to installing traditional poured concrete floors.
The lightweight panels, formed from mineral cements, are pre-cast and ready to install with simple adhesive application. The speed of the process plays a key role in ensuring fit-out timescales are reduced as the floors can be laid in a day, and are ready to walk on in just a few hours.
The panels can be laid in a range of patterns from random plank to geometric, herringbone and – as used in the Oliver Bonas stores – a straight line grid pattern.
As the finished pictures demonstrate the latest stores to feature Concreate look beautiful, bright and welcoming. And the floors give an effortless backdrop with modern, architectural undertones.
