Adobe are global giants in the delivery of design led solutions for the creative and marketing industries, with digital packages that can be found in most design practices around the globe.
With a passion to bring digital creations to life and deliver them to the right person at the right time for the best result, a similar ethos was extended into the design and fit-out of their Dublin headquarters.
Seeking an office design that would inspire creativity, connectivity and flexibility, Adobe took an extra 6,500 sq ft at its existing Dublin offices with the aspiration to create a new contemporary, urban feel office which would inject brand principles and deliver a modern, engaging work space.
The brief was handed to K2 Space, experts in delivering inspirational work environments built specifically around the client’s brand.
Excited by the Adobe brief they looked to create a mixed use space that combined a large open plan office, meeting rooms and a social space with a kitchen and informal seating areas – all with connectivity to promote openness and inspiring interactions.
Key to the design was the removal of the suspended ceiling in places, exposing services such as the air conditioning to create an urban, industrial feel. A local joinery expert was appointed to build bespoke seating, tables and a partition incorporating the Adobe logo, with the wood textures selected contrasting with the exposed metal services for dramatic architectural styling.
Flooring selection was critical in the success of the design, especially where the exposed ceilings and bespoke wood work featured. Concrete was the preferred material but with a raised floor traditional poured polished concrete wasn’t an option.
Concreate became the product of choice. Being lightweight the engineered concrete floor panels are ideal for use over a raised commercial floor, enabling services to run underneath and be made easily accessible with pre-cut access points in the panels.
And the natural patina in the engineered panels delivers an authentic concrete finish which combines with the exposed services and wood to create the exact urban industrial juxtaposition the team were aspiring for.
Stain and slip resistant, the panels also provide the necessary durability and low maintenance for their use in a busy kitchen area.
The open plan office was finished with a range of furniture, specified by K2 Space to facilitate different ways of working – from traditional workstations to sofas and acoustic booths.
Adobe commented, “K2 Space transformed what was an empty shell into a superb workspace, which gives our people a choice of comfortable environments.”
“Bespoke touches like the wooden partition with our logo and the Dublin skyline wallpaper make this a very memorable Adobe office.”
